On November 13, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), in collaboration with the University of Ulsan (Korea), successfully hosted the International Conference on Mechatronics and Technology 2025 (ICMT 2025). The conference was technically sponsored by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IEEE IES), one of the world’s leading academic organizations in the field of electrical and electronic engineering, reaffirming HCMUTE’s academic reputation and international research impact.

This year’s conference received 128 submissions from domestic and international researchers. Following a rigorous and objective peer-review process, the Organizing Committee selected 75 high-quality papers for presentation. The accepted papers were distributed across 15 technical sessions covering 9 specialized themes. All papers will be published in the IEEE Xplore Proceedings—one of the most prestigious scientific publication platforms globally—helping disseminate research findings to the international academic community.

ICMT 2025 proudly welcomed more than 70 scientists, experts, and scholars from Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Italy, China, the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Luxembourg, Qatar, and Taiwan. Their presence created a vibrant academic environment where knowledge was exchanged, collaboration opportunities expanded, and scientific and technological development was further promoted in the context of deepening global integration.

In attendance were Prof. Kyoung Kwan Ahn – Honorary Chair from the University of Ulsan (Korea); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice President of HCMUTE; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Thanh Trung – Head of the Office of Science and Technology; along with leaders of faculties and departments, lecturers, and graduate students of HCMUTE. The conference also featured two keynote speakers:

  • Prof. Yo Ping Huang – A leading scholar in AI and IoT from National Taipei University of Technology (Taiwan), and

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Quang Truong – A mechatronics expert from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom),
together with authors and researchers from Vietnam and abroad.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh, Vice President of HCMUTE, warmly welcomed delegates, experts, and scientists from various countries, expressing the university’s honor in hosting ICMT 2025. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation in scientific research, especially in mechatronics—an area where advanced technological solutions play a pivotal role in digital transformation and sustainable development. Through academic platforms like ICMT, researchers can share knowledge, expand collaborative networks, and collectively pursue innovation.

Prof. Kyoung Kwan Ahn from the University of Ulsan expressed his pride in seeing the 28th ICMT held in Vietnam. He highlighted the significance of strengthening cooperation among universities to jointly develop global technological solutions. In the era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming the foundation of all scientific and engineering fields, cross-border knowledge sharing and research collaboration are more strategically important than ever. He expressed his hope that ICMT 2025 would open up new research directions, particularly in AI integration, automation, and smart technologies—thereby fostering sustainable collaboration networks and contributing to global technological advancement.

During the conference, the keynote speakers delivered highly insightful and application-oriented presentations.

  • Prof. Yo Ping Huang presented “AIoT in Sensing and Control Applications”, introducing the latest advancements in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into sensing and control systems.

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Quang Truong delivered “Mechatronic Innovations in Advanced Thermal Management for Efficient and Sustainable Transport Systems”, sharing cutting-edge mechatronic innovations in thermal management toward more efficient and sustainable transportation systems.

With its mission to promote knowledge exchange, technological advancement, and interdisciplinary research collaboration, ICMT 2025 served not only as a platform for scientists to share the latest achievements in mechatronics but also as a testament to HCMUTE’s organizational capacity, academic prestige, and international impact. The conference reaffirmed HCMUTE’s pioneering role in connecting the global research community, promoting modern technological solutions for sustainable development and digital transformation.

The success of ICMT 2025 marks an important milestone in HCMUTE’s journey of international integration. The event provides a strong foundation for extensive research collaborations with universities and international organizations, contributing to the university’s strategic goal of becoming a leading regional center for research, innovation, and technology transfer—advancing scientific and technological development in Vietnam and beyond.
